This stylish, former fisherman’s cottage is perfect for a holiday by the sea and is one of the earliest fisherman’s cottages to be built in Whitstable and is shown on the 1840’s map of Whitstable.

Whitstable is a delightful seaside town that offers plenty of activities for families. The town has a wealth of independent shops and a fine selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs, all within 500m of the cottage. Enjoy the beach and coastal walks as well as a variety of water sports including windsurfing, kite surfing and sailing. Why not take a bike ride along the seafront, the Oyster Bay Trail takes you along the coast to Herne Bay (5.5 miles) and finishes in Reculver, a former Roman settlement, or follow the Crab and Winkle Way to the city of Canterbury (7 miles), which is home to the country’s oldest cathedral and the Marlow theatre, the perfect place to enjoy some history and culture.

The front door of this beautiful property opens onto the comfortably furnished lounge that features two sofas arranged around a Smart TV and the feature fire. From the lounge, head through to the dining room that offers an original Ercol dining table with seating around a wood burner for guests to enjoy. Beyond the dining room is the well-equipped kitchen with an electric oven and gas hob, fridge and dishwasher. An alcove between the kitchen and bathroom offers a handy utility area with a washing machine and completing the ground floor is the family bathroom, which features a bath with a shower over, and WC. Heading up to the first floor, there are three bedrooms: a double and two singles, one of which has a pull-out bed that can be made into a double for an additional guest.

Outside, you'll discover a large garden with a patio area that is a wonderful sun trap that offers a patio table and chairs and a charcoal BBQ that can be enjoyed throughout the day. There is private parking for two medium size cars on the driveway at the end of the rear garden

Whitstable is one of Kent’s most popular seaside towns, not only for its long shingle beaches, dotted with colourful huts and houses, but also for its annual Oyster Festival, when the town really comes alive. Here you can sample this renowned delicacy which has been collected in the area since Roman times and brings visitors from all over the globe to get a glimpse of the first catch of the season. Still a working harbour, you can sample a plethora of seafood from the stalls and restaurants as you watch the fishing boats return from sea, or pop up to the bohemian main street with its quirky colourful shops and galleries. Keep to the seaside theme and hire bikes to ride along the coast to Herne Bay just two miles away, or try the famous inland Crab and Winkle Way, which follows the old railway line between Whitstable and Canterbury and is packed with history and nostalgia. Relax with lazy days at the beach, building sandcastles and exploring hidden rock pools or take a long walk along the vast stretch of shingle beach. The area has lots of other beach walks, as well many country and woodland trails nearby, perfect for both you and the family dog! For a little culture, pay a visit to the town’s famous 18th century Castle and Gardens, Playhouse Theatre and Whitstable Museum and Gallery, all perfect for an afternoon or evening out. Only eight miles north of the cathedral city of Canterbury with its popular glass-fronted Marlowe Theatre, you are also just half an hour away from the up-and-coming seaside town of Margate and 45 minutes away from the port of Dover with its famous white cliffs. Slightly further afield, you will find the historic Cinque Ports towns of amongst others, Rye, Hastings and Tenterden where you will find a variety of spectacular monuments and beautiful castles to visit with all the family. Whitstable really is the perfect place for those who want to get back to how holidays used to be – full of fun, adventure and family.
